Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 11 ENGLISH DUB Review

Episode 11, "The Miracle at Rush Valley"

CHIL ABDUCTION

*****SPOILERS*****

Synopsis: On the way to Dublith, Edward, Alphonse, and Winry make a detour to Rush Valley, a town full of automail engineers. While engineers gather to admire his automail parts, Edward's State Alchemist watch is stolen by a pickpocket, Paninya, with two automail legs. The three follow her into the mountains, where her automail mechanic Dominic lives. Winry asks for an apprenticeship, but he denies her. While there, Dominic's daughter-in-law goes into labor, and Winry helps deliver the child while Ed and Al wait, powerless. Dominic reccomends Winry apprentice to an automail engineer he knows. Ed and Al continue onto Dublith.

Comments:

Ahaha, oh wow, this is the worst episode of the dub since the first episode. Shit-tastic.

Sean Schemmel Strikes!: How I Pissed Off Goku

"Bitch, please." So, we all know that I'm not a huge fan of Sean Schemmel, the voice of Goku in Funimation's English dub of Dragon Ball Z. I've said it enough. I just don't think he's that great in the role. In fact, I've said he's pretty fucking terrible. Granted, he's better than the AB Groupe and Creative Product Corp's dub Gokus, but certainly not as good as Peter Kelamis was in the role for Ocean. It's not a controversial opinion. Many people share my opinion. Anyway, apparently this has caught Mr. Schemmel's attention recently. On the Sean Schemmel Fanclub (ahahahaha) page on Facebook, Schemmel said this: In all my ranting about "constructive criticism" vs. "mindless bashing" and all the arguing and debating about new vs.

Dragon Ball Kai Licensed/Announced By Funimation; May Release

Funimation has announced that it has licensed Dragon Ball Kai, the new version of Dragon Ball Z now airing in Japan on Fuji TV. Kai is a cut of the show touched up for HD, with some redrawn scenes and filler removed for a smoother pace that resembles Akira Toriyama's manga. A new musical score has been composed by Kenji Yamamoto, known for his work on Dragon Ball Z video games like the Budoukai series, Burst Limit, Infinite World, and Raging Blast. Most of the original Japanese cast, including Masako Nozawa (Son Goku/Gohan/Goten), Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta), Toshio Furukawa (Piccolo) have returned to their original roles, but some roles have been recast, such as Aya Hirano as Dende.

FMA 2 Dub Cast Announced (Sorta)

So, the cast for Funimation's Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood dub has been revealed. Or, at least, some of it. Here's my commentary on it: Vic Mignogna as Edward Elric Comment: I'm not surprised, but I'm not happy. Vic will continue to gain popularity based on a mediocre effort that pales in comparison to the Japanese voice. Well, I can at least hope he's better this time around, because last time it he was just lousy. Maxey Whitehead as Alphonse Elric Comment: They replaced the best performer in the first dub, Aaron Dismuke (ostensibly because he went through puberty, and thus his voice changed), with a relative newcomer. This is particularly upsetting, since I feel that even now, Dismuke will still be capable of handling Alphonse, who is a little older-seeming and wiser in the new series, anyway.

dubs which grace some of anime's most defining series in North America.

Dragon Ball Z. I'd like to think that most of us anime fans have seen at least some of it. It certainly is fantastically popular, all over the world. Even in my budding anime fandom, DBZ may not have been my favorite per se, but it was probably the mark by which all other animated programs at the time were measured. "Is this better or worse than DBZ?" I would ask myself. And even today I consider its influence on my fandom and life in general as being somewhat significant, for better or worse.
