Thundercats (2011) Episodes 1 and 2 – A Cold Omen?

To be diplomatic, a word that could be used to describe the reaction to the upcoming ThunderCats Roar is… spirited. For the majority part it is negative in outlook, but like any cartoon final judgment ought to be made once episodes premiere. Another major consequence of this news is the pining for the 2011 iteration of the franchise, cancelled before its story completed, like other unfortunate Cartoon Network shows Sym-Bionic Titan and Beware the Batman (although unlike them, it wasn’t written off). Now the outlook on THAT show is the diametric opposite.

Otaku Evolution Episode 113 - Tenchi Muyo! OVA 3

Ugh, it took me forever to make this video. For one, I had a cold, a bad back, and then I had to have my gallbladder removed, I shit you not. During and after that litany of health crises, plus recovery, plus my usual procrastination, I finally finished this beast of a video that really wore me out, because DAMN is this OVA just painful, emotionally and apparently physically. So I will probably never, ever watch this ever again after all this, and I say, good riddance. Maybe I'll finally get over my anger and just move on.

But, as you know, I'm not really a "moving on" sort. The third Tenchi Muyo! OVA is my "Slowly I Turned" moment. I guess sort of like that third Rebuild of Evangelion movie. This is an anime that is, quite literally, bad for my health.

Outlaw Star Episode 26 [Final] – Incomplete Legend

After the somewhat disappointing rote nature of the penultimate episode, the final one puts us right at the centre of the Leyline with all the surviving players. So I guess this is where the series puts us through the ringer of some revelations and an epic final battle that really gets the blood pumping, right?

In three one syllable words: Yes. Yes. Yes.

Outlaw Star Episode 25 – Rift Trippers

Like the “prep work” episode, this episode seems all too familiar with an end goal rescue. Everybody of importance rushes toward the end, with every surviving enemy getting in the way. Supporting cast tell main guy to go ahead while they stay behind to distract them. Repeat until the protagonist is the only one left and then go ahead to finale.

…Then cut off at the end to save for the final episode.

Outlaw Star Episode 23 – Demystifying the Taboo

Welp, we’re finally here. Granted it’s been a few weeks since Adult Swim premiered it for the first time on television after over a decade since the original series… but we’re finally here. Despite being part of a franchise television block that had Tenchi Muyo and went out of its way to give all their nude girls bathing suits, Outlaw Star’s “Hot Springs Planet Tenrei” didn’t get such treatment. This is strange given how the only real full frontal we get is some Aisha (I guess Ctarl-Ctarl breasts are okay cuz they aren’t human), and some bits of ass from hot lizard lady and a guest human character. Such shit seems to be fairly easy to edit give or take.

Otaku Evolution Episode 112 - Crusher Joe: The Ice Prison

For whatever reason, it took me a lot longer to make this twelve minute long review video than it really should have. Partly because I don't really feel like my videos are even appreciated, but also I was sick and I went days barely working on it. But here you go, anyway, my review of the first Crusher Joe OVA feature, The Ice Prison, which is just the right amount of Crusher Joe and just the quality I was looking for: exciting and brief.

Maybe I'm just trying to delay my next video subject... ugh.
