Dragon Ball Daima - Episode 11 Review
Episode 11, "Legend"
*****SPOILERS*****
Synopsis:
Comments: Everyone piles out of Hybis' ship as Neva arrives. He explains to the group that he went to Earth with Gomah to gather the Dragon Balls. He expresses surprise that they already defeated one of the Tamagamis and collected a Dragon Ball. He requests to go with the group after they start to leave, and they reluctantly agree. Meanwhile, Arinsu returns back to Marba's after Majin Kuu's defeat, hoping for another Majin creation. They use the remnants of Buu and bury the new seed deeper, creating a new demon, the rotund Majin Duu, who demands chocolate. Duu challenge Tamagami Number One while Vegeta challenges Tamagami Number Two. Duu seems to have more luck, as he makes it difficult to keep up with him in battle, while Vegeta gets pushed down in the water, where a Kraken swallows him.
Comments:
Neva is an interesting fellow. He was more than willing to help Gomah gather the Dragon Balls on Earth to wish for Goku and the gang to be kids again, but here he is giving information to Gomah's enemies and even taking a trip with them. Of all the characters with questionable motivations, I think Neva even surpasses Glorio in mystery. Neva seems to be faking senility whhen it suits him, but he has all kinds of information. Personally, I believe his real goal is to get the Namekians to return to their ancestral homeland, and he thinks he can manipulate everyone to that end. But it could be another goal altogether. One thing is for sure, is that he can't be entirely trusted.
I'm kind of miffed at the retcon in this episode that Piccolo can't remember how to use the Namekian language. He used it way back in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai to talk to Kami (who was residing in Shen at the time). I find it difficult to believe he's forgotten it all in the year since, especially since he absorbed both Nail, a native Namekian, and Kami. It just seems like a poor excuse to get Neva on board the team. They easily could have said that the Demon Realm Dragon Balls require the old Namekian dialect from the ancestral world.
The continued wackiness of the Kuu situation is funny. Arinsu and Marba are dead serious about pursuing their goals, but while very loyal, Kuu is kind of a goof, and Duu isn't much better. I like when Kuu muses that he's always wanted a younger sibling. Dude, you were just born, what do you mean "always"? And Duu is about as bright as a dead bulb, even though he seems much stronger than Kuu. He even seems to be giving Tamagami Number One a run for his money. (Oh, and I love the Dr. Slump references in this episode.)
Unfortunately, Vegeta takes his usual L in this episode. Maybe it was because of his steadfast refusal to transform into a Super Saiyan immediately. Vegeta does have a painful tendency to underestimate his opponents. I mean, I expect the next episode will see Vegeta ultimately triumph, but this early portion of the battle was a little embarrassing and it doesn't look good on Vegeta's already fraught record of combat.
I wonder if Duu will beat Tamagami Number One. I'd say he has a good chance.
