Otaku Evolution Episode 231 - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Part 1)

Another year of Otaku Evolution begins with a look at the 2009 64-episode TV series, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the longest title I've covered thus far in these videos. It's a series that is near and dear to my heart, so I'm happy to get the chance to talk about it. I'm actually somewhat surprised that it took me this long to get to it. But then again, I've already reviewed most of my favorite anime, and maybe it was a good idea not to review this one too soon. After this, I don't know if there are any favorites left! Black Lagoon, I guess. I'll get to that later.

Otaku Evolution Episode 230 - Year End English Dub Review IX

One final video for 2022, folks! As usual with my last video of the year, I go over the various English dubs of the anime I've covered in roughly the second half of the year. I think the best dub was Solid State Society's and the weakest Babel II - Beyond Infinity's which is amusing, because I covered those anime originally in that order. But even the weakest anime dub of the bunch still had solid talents, just a lack of commitment to the characters. Most of the dubs I covered were at least decent.

Otaku Evolution Episode 229 - (Top 10) Favorite Anime Characters

Listen here, you fucking degenerates. I know what you're doing, indulging in every act of debauchery and overindulgence this holiday season. So maybe you can take the time, while you're not boozing it up with your good time gang or drowning your sorrows in a full store-bought pie, to watch my little (half hour) video about my top 10 favorite anime characters. I can already feel the bile rising in my throat as I picture all the amazing fun you're having NOT contributing to my Patreon or subscribing to my channel and it sickens me to the core. So sit down, shake off that eggnog high, and watch this video, damn it, I worked really hard on it!

Otaku Evolution Episode 226 - RahXephon

RahXephon was ostensibly influenced by the 1975 anime Brave Raideen. But if you've seen Neon Genesis Evangelion, and then this show, you cannot (and I did not) avoid comparing the two. It frankly baffles me that some people see this as a better show than Evangelion, though, because it's not actually about anything. What are the actual themes of RahXephon? Aside from playing lip service to music/sound as a reoccurring element, there's not a whole lot to the show. It's decent, but not transcendent the way Evangelion is.

Otaku Evolution Episode 225 - Trigun: Badlands Rumble

Ah, the Trigun movie, Badlands Rumble. It's fun. And that's about all I can say about it. There's really nothing significant in its premise or execution. It's just a filler episode with high production values. Come to think of it, the Cowboy Bebop movie was like that, too, but it seemed much more significant and well-constructed. It had more of a beating heart to it. Plus, it was Cowboy Bebop, so it was already going to be better. Which is why that movie is in my favorites and Badlands Rumble is not. But it's not a waste of time, at least. And after the subject of my previous video, I needed that.

Otaku Evolution Episode 224 - Babel II - Beyond Infinity

Babel II - Beyond Infinity is a show that could have- no, should have- been better than it was. You have these characters with amazing psychic powers, giant robots, monsters, and ancient alien mythos (lol). But do they do anything with these elements? No! They waste them in Plain Jane, paint-by-numbers plots with nothing to say. Please, somebody save me from mediocre anime like this. I knew there was a reason I was putting this off. Just watch Giant Robo instead. Then rewatch it.

Otaku Evolution Episode 222 - Mid Year English Dub Review VIII

I'm getting tired of having my videos handicapped by overzealous IP holders and foreign licensors. I just want to do anime review videos, not show entire episodes or movies. Can't these greedy corporate cocksuckers give me a fucking break? I had to edit this video a bunch of times, if you can't notice. It boils my blood.
