Gundam SEED Was Never Good

News flash, history rewriters: Gundam SEED was never good. Stop saying that Gundam SEED Destiny wasn't up to par with the original. I've seen both, and Destiny is only marginally worse. The series began as copypasta of the original Gundam series, with it's own Newtypes, White Base, Amuro Ray, Bright Noa (split into two character), Char, Side 7, and Earth Federation. Then we move into Zeta copypasta with it's take on the drop operation on Jaburo, then back to 0079 copypasta with the execution of a Giren Zabi. The character designs were awful, the mecha designs were indentical, the plot structure predictable, the animation an irritating "ultra-shiny" sheen, the writing sloppy, the characters unlikable, and the conclusion unsatisfying. And it always astonishes me when I hear that the music was great - which music? The Inu Yasha-esque pop music OPs and EDs? The generic background music?

Anime I'd Like To See Licensed For R1

Anime I'd Like To See Licensed for Region 1 DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray: Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Sweeping epic space opera, deeply immersed in the philosophy of politics, war, and life. It's 110 episodes long, which means a long wait if it were released volume-by-volume, with three or four episodes per, but if they made season boxsets and released one or two a year, they would have it done in two to four years and it would be awesome. I suggest David Wittenburg as Yang Wen-li in the dub. David Kaye as Reinhard von Lohengramm. Extras could include models, soundtracks, booklets with linear art for ships and/or notes pertaining to the classical music used in each episode. I would guess that a company like Bandai Entertainment or AnimeEigo would pick this up. Maybe Central Park Media.

Former "Otaku" Now in a Love-Hate Relationship with Anime

So I've been into anime for quite a long time. You know, I'm that guy who was into Sailor Moon back in the day because that's all there was besides the Sci-Fi channel stuff. (Oh Man, do you remember Roujin-Z? Gall Force? I do.) And then as anime was made more available through retailers such as Suncoast and Media Play. They had all the stuff you could want. That was when I had free time, that was when I had a NewType subscription to sample every anime I could ever want. I developed my own tastes after experiencing all sorts of different kinds of anime over the years. Now that I'm out of high school, and I've started working, it's harder to find out which anime fits my needs. There was a point when I had a falling out with anime, but now we're in a love-hate relationship. There's a few here and there that I try, but every time I sample something new it's usually something I've seen before, or something that had the potential to be executed so much better.
